I have found a fantastic beach resort in Nepal! Really! I have!
Actually…no…sorry to disappoint you. I do tell a lie, of course…but it’s not as outrageous a lie as it sounds!
I have been to beaches and waterfront locales from as far East as Hong Kong and as far West as Hawaii, from as far North as Norway and as far down South as Australia and many in between, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Azerbaijan, Italy, Spain, Malawi, Tanzania (the island of Zanzibar), Cuba etc.
Many of those places — such as the small wooden cabins on the islands of the Philippines, the bamboo cabins along lake Malawi in Malawi and on the beaches of Zanzibar (my favorite), the cute little beach-hotel rooms in Sri Lanka — I have very very fond memories of. The memories are invariably of relaxed and chilled times, with a drink in one hand and a book in the other or with a friend or two for company, diving into the water and soaking it and the sand and the sun all up…with very little care in the world!
Those experiences developed in me a love for the beaches and big bodies of water — seas, lakes etc. — just as much as I do the mountains!
And I think I have found just the place for such experiences in Nepal. The crowning jewel is that this place is located in Pokhara, the most beautiful city on this planet to boot! 🙂 That the owner is my good buddy Bikash Gurung helps too!
The place is no other than Krazy Gecko Bar and Restaurant!
Here’s where it is at:
Sure it’s about 10-15 minute walk from all the hustle and bustle of Lakeside Road (Baidam Road). But, you will be rewarded well for that effort… with quiet, peace and serenity amongst trees, greenery and a view of the tranquil lake!
So, pay Krazy Gecko a visit.
If you do, ask for Bikash! Tell him that this blog post of mine got you there! Who knows, he might give you a drink or two on the house!
